Winter Sunshine ! The Coast & Cliffs Of Cabo de Gata

We meet you at the airport of Almeria, then spend 3 nights exploring the sea-scraped headlands and beaches of this remarkable National Park; I can’t think of anywhere quite like it in Europe – and I mean that in a good way. Think of the desert around Marrakesch, transplanted to the cliffs at Robin Hood’s Bay, and take away the people. And the camels. We’ll stay at two different hotels, and meander along the cliffs at our own sweet pace, with 4x4 back-up for those for whom the pace turns out to be perhaps too sweet. On day 4 we’ll drive up to the alpujarra via Almeria city to have a gander at the old town and see the famous fish market, arriving in time for dinner in Mairena - which should by early Feb. be lost in a frenzy of almond blossom. There we’ll have 3 full days of guided walks, with gastronomic picnic lunches, and the opportunity to forage for the Spring’s first salad leaves, keeping eyes sharp for wild asparagus. The price for the week, to include all transfers and full board, is 890 euros per person, with a supplement of 220 euros for single travellers.
